About the Great Dane
Developed in Germany, likely from mastiff and greyhound-type ancestors, originally bred to hunt wild boar before becoming an estate guardian and companion. One of the tallest dog breeds, with a short, sleek coat and a proud, athletic build.

Gentle, friendly, and affectionate despite its imposing size, the Great Dane is often called a 'gentle giant' and tends to be patient with children and other pets.
