About the Bloodhound
An ancient breed with origins tracing back to medieval European monasteries, developed and refined for its extraordinary scenting ability, still used today in search-and-rescue and law enforcement tracking. Large and powerfully built, with loose wrinkled skin, long drooping ears, and a heavy dewlap.
Temperament
Gentle, patient, and affectionate, the Bloodhound is famously single-minded once it picks up a scent trail but is otherwise mild-mannered and good with family.

- Hip dysplasia
- Entropion
Grooming needs
The short coat sheds moderately and needs weekly brushing, along with regular cleaning of the skin folds and long ears to help prevent infections.
