About the Papillon
Named for its distinctive fringed, butterfly-like ears ('papillon' is French for butterfly), descended from small spaniels popular in European royal courts since the 16th century. Small and fine-boned, with a silky coat and a plumed tail carried over the back.
Temperament
Happy, alert, and remarkably trainable, the Papillon is often ranked among the most intelligent toy breeds and enjoys learning tricks and agility work.

Grooming needs
The long, silky single coat has little heavy undercoat and resists matting, so brushing twice a week is generally enough.
