About the Miniature Dachshund
Developed in Germany originally to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals, with a long body and short legs suited to tunneling into dens; the miniature variety was bred down further for smaller quarry such as rabbits. Comes in smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired coat varieties.
Temperament
Bold, curious, and a little stubborn, the Miniature Dachshund retains a strong hunting instinct and tends to bark at anything unfamiliar.

Grooming needs
