About the Great Pyrenees
An ancient breed developed in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain to guard livestock from wolves and bears, working independently alongside flocks. Large and powerfully built, with a thick, weather-resistant white double coat.
Temperament
Calm, protective, and independent, the Great Pyrenees is a devoted livestock guardian by instinct, watchful at night and generally gentle with family and other animals it considers part of its charge.

Grooming needs
The thick double coat sheds heavily, especially during seasonal blowouts, and needs brushing two to three times a week to prevent matting.
