About the English Bulldog
Descended from dogs bred for bull-baiting in England, later re-bred for a much gentler temperament after the practice was outlawed in the 19th century. Stocky and muscular, with a short, flat face, loose wrinkled skin, and a distinctive rolling gait.

Docile, friendly, and courageous, the English Bulldog is generally calm and affectionate, making it a popular companion despite its tough appearance.
